Malaysian Hi, my name is Evita Yap and I come from Malaysia. I moved to Portugal a couple of years ago and what I missed the most was Malaysian food. That´s why I started to cook, to remember the taste of my mother´s food. In specific, vegetarian food. I am not a vegetarian but we eat both meat and vegan option regularly, the meat options are easy to find, but it seems that the vegetarian options have been forgotten here in Europe. I was born and raised in Bangladesh, where I learned beauty and aesthetics of food from my mother that made my relation to cooking even more meaningful. I often miss the flavors of home, so I love to play & experiment with local products to bring out all new flavors.
I’m 26 years old and I’m a woman warrior! I grew up in Luanda with my aunt, a fantastic cook who taught me everything she knew. When I’m in my kitchen cooking traditional Angolan dishes, I forget everything and I put all my energy into what I’m doing.
I am a plant-based Chef. I’ve spent most of my career travelling to learn and absorb the translation of each culture throughout food. After gathering and sharing knowledge, I gravitated back to my roots with an 100% plant-based confectionery, aimed to reinforce and consolidate the vegan food scene in Lisbon.
